Remove image background
Cut out people, pets and products and download a transparent PNG — then turn it into a big poster.
- Up to 50 images at once
- Transparent PNG or solid colour
- Pro · 1 credit per image
How it works
1. Add images
Drop, paste or choose up to 50 JPG, PNG or WebP images. They are only previewed on this device until you start.
2. Remove backgrounds
Click Remove background. With Pro, after you confirm, a copy of each image (at most 2048 px) is sent for processing — two at a time.
3. Download
Check each result, pick a transparent, white or coloured background, then download one PNG or all of them as a ZIP.
What you can use it for
A clean cutout is useful well beyond one photo. These are the jobs it handles best.
Product photos
Put shop and marketplace listings on a plain white or brand-coloured background so every item looks consistent.
Profile and team photos
Turn a casual portrait into a tidy headshot for a CV, a profile picture or an About page.
Pets
Cut out your dog or cat for a card, a birthday sign or a framed print. Very fine fur may lose some detail.
Stickers and crafts
Make transparent PNGs for stickers, iron-on transfers, scrapbooks and other DIY projects.
School and presentations
Drop clean images into slides, worksheets and class projects without a distracting background.
Posters and signs
Print a cutout large with the BlockPoster maker: removed areas print white, so the subject stands out on the wall.
Tips for cleaner cutouts
The model works out what the main subject is. You get the best edges when that is easy to see.
- Use a photo where one subject is clearly in focus — a person, a pet or a product.
- Contrast helps: a dark subject on a light background, or the other way round, gives sharper edges.
- Even light without strong shadows keeps the outline clean; harsh shadows may be kept as part of the subject.
- Keep the whole subject in the frame. Parts cut off by the photo's edge stay cut off.
- Zoom in on hair, fur and see-through objects before you print. Busy scenes with many objects may not come out as you expect.
Removing backgrounds from many images at once
Add up to 50 images in one go and process them in a single run — handy for a whole product range or a set of class photos.
- Images are processed two at a time, and you can stop the run at any point. Images that haven't started stay in the list.
- Each image that comes out uses 1 credit. Images rejected by content screening or that fail don't use one, and a failed image can be retried on its own.
- Choose a transparent, white or coloured background once, then download single PNGs or everything as one ZIP, named after your original files.
- Keep the page open until the batch is done. Your images aren't saved here, so closing the tab clears the list.
Make a poster from your cutout
Download the transparent PNG, then upload it in the poster maker. Removed areas print white on your pages.
For a big print, start from the largest photo you have: the cutout is up to 2048 px on its longer side, which suits posters a few sheets wide. The poster size calculator shows how large you can print before the image gets soft.
Rules
- Background removal is part of BlockPoster Pro: 300 images a month with a monthly or yearly plan, 50 with the 7-day pass.
- Each processed image uses 1 credit. Images rejected as inappropriate or that fail to process do not use a credit.
- Images are checked for inappropriate content before processing.
- Repeated uploads rejected by content screening pause background removal for your account: 10 within 24 hours pause it for 24 hours, and a third pause within 30 days suspends it until you contact support.
- Processing runs on Replicate (USA) through our server; nothing is uploaded until you confirm. Read the Privacy Policy
Works best for
Clear photos of people, pets and products with a visible outline. Busy scenes with many objects, fine hair or fur may lose detail.
Frequently asked questions
Is background removal free?
Choosing and previewing images is free for everyone. Removing the background is part of BlockPoster Pro: the monthly and yearly plans include 300 images a month, and the 7-day pass includes 50. Making posters stays free.
How many images can I process at once?
Up to 50 images per batch. They are processed two at a time; if you have fewer credits than images, only the first ones in the list are processed.
Which file types can I use?
JPG, PNG and WebP images. Results download as PNG — with a transparent background, or flattened onto white or a colour you choose.
How large is the result?
A copy of at most 2048 px on its longer side is processed, and the transparent PNG comes back at that size. Smaller images keep their original size.
Where are my images processed, and are they stored?
Only after you confirm, a copy of each image is sent through our server to Replicate (USA) for content screening and background removal. We don't save it; Replicate keeps it temporarily and removes it under its own rules. Choosing and previewing images stays on your device.
Do rejected or failed images use credits?
No. A credit is used only when you get a result. Repeated uploads that content screening rejects can pause background removal for your account for 24 hours, and a third pause within 30 days suspends it until support reviews it.
Can I get a white or coloured background instead?
Yes. After processing, pick Transparent, White or Colour; the choice applies to single downloads and to the ZIP. It's applied on your device and uses no extra credits.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page works in mobile browsers: choose photos from your library, process them and download the PNG or ZIP. Keep the page open while a batch is running.
